In 2022, BDF Natural Ingredients received a grant from the Agencia Catalana de Residus for the project: ECODESIGN OF A NEW FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENT MADE FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS.The project consisted of developing a new functional ingredient through the valorization of residual fractions of bovine collagen casings, as part of a circular economy initiative aimed at developing a new functional ingredient for the nutraceutical sector.The goal of the project was to develop and validate an ecodesign process capable of transforming residual fractions of bovine collagen casings into a high-value-added secondary raw material. The result is our Vitality bovine collagen.
This project incorporates ECODESIGN criteria throughout the entire product life cycle, promoting:
-The reuse of secondary materials.
-The reduction of resource consumption.
-The decrease of the environmental burden associated with the production process.
-The generation of new high-value-added products within a circular economy model.
This project reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of solutions that contribute to a more efficient and circular food industry.
